Un peu d'histoire Dans une demeure de notables portugais, construite à la fin du XVIII° siècle l'un des tous premiers hôtels de Mogador ouvre ses portes en 1925. Entièrement construit en pierre de taille dans le style « Emmanuélien », on y retrouve la sobriété des constructions du Sud Marocain. De l'emplacement de l'ancienne résidence royale avec sa cour et son enceinte, l'hôtel a conservé un nom prestigieux, MECHOUAR. Parades, réceptions, accueil des consuls et visiteurs... tout se faisait sur ce site. Quelles fêtes ne furent pas données sous ces arcades! C'était l'établissement le plus chic de la place au temps du Général LYAUTEY qui l'a d'ailleurs visité.
